Artisan Cluster
SWAH’s, “ART” is a network of artisans, designers, and craft patrons who came together to collectively respond to the havoc created by the 2020 pandemic. Originating from a deep concern for the survival of the craft and handmade industry, it initially functioned as an informal social media platform. The network soon proved to be of immense value and relevance. It generated business, enabled the sharing of knowledge, and experience, and above all became a sounding board to respond to the unprecedented challenges created by the pandemic. The vibrancy and enthusiasm led to the decision to formalise this platform.
Mentorship, Collective Action, Knowledge Sharing, and Volunteering are fundamental to “ART”.
Vision
To re-imagine the Indian Handmade industry as a vibrant, contemporary industry that is meaningful for today and tomorrow.
Mission
To energize the handmade industry through knowledge sharing, design innovation, and building effective linkages in the ecosystem.
"ART ": Values & Beliefs
Artisans are the core
There would be no Handmade industry without artisans. Our initiatives must result in their increased well-being, livelihoods, respect, knowledge transfer, and enhanced capabilities.
Fair Business Practices
We will support fair and ethical business practices and increase trust between eco-system members.
Focus on Innovation
Innovation at multiple levels – design, production process, supply chain, market linkages and use
Go Zero Waste
“ART” has decided to use recycled materials; remember that when it comes to unleashing creativity, recycling, reusing, and repurposing can be some of the artisan’s handiest crafting tools, and “ART” is willing to bet that Mother Nature would agree.
Open to change
We cannot succeed if we work in silos or are insular about change. Exchange of ideas and learning, creating connections with business and technology, understanding markets and consumers, venture funding, etc. are essential for the healthy growth of the industry.
