SWAH believes children’s media can play a crucial role in helping children understand, cope with, and respond to the climate crisis, but children’s media today is essentially silent on the climate–particularly on its human origins, as the education system has little connection with practical happenings in the realm of the environment.

Teaching and learning do not just happen in schools. With its reach and influence, children’s media can help positively empower today’s young people to lead a sustainable future, Their effort underscores the critical opportunity for media to help children understand the world, the environment, and how to advance climate solutions.

Over 100,000 newspapers and periodicals in the country offer access to a significant section of the urban population and opinion leaders in rural areas. However, environmental concerns are often not adequately reflected in these newspapers, mainly because authentic and readily usable material does not regularly reach them.

SWAH, through its News and Feature Service (Sabuj Sangbad), disseminates environment-related news items, features and articles to youngsters, NGOs and individual subscribers. The whole concept, preparation and presentation are designed and executed by young enthusiasts of SWAH to create awareness and the right of environment for future generations.
